SMI-LabHut Ltd is proud to introduce an extensive new line of syringe filters under their 'Cronus' label.

The color-coded filters are designed for the discerning HPLC chemist and feature full lot to lot validation and certification performed by an independent laboratory. This ensures filter reproducibility and low levels of extractable which can affect HPLC samples. The quality testing is probably the most rigorous in the market today.

Initially available in 10 membrane types and 3 sizes, the Cronus range is available for most application types and also features some sterile membranes as well as membrane disc filters. In addition to the membrane type printed on each of the filters, the color coding ensures easy identification, and the filters feature a unique design for maximum sample throughput and yet only leave small residual volumes. This means that a smaller size filter can often be used with the associated cost savings.

3 different sizes and membranes available are Nylon, PTFE, PVDF, Regenerated Cellulose (RC), Cellulose Acetate and Nylon with Glass Pre-Filters. Please enquire for PP, PES and Glass Microfibre filter.

Selection of size is based on sample volume

Selection of membrane based on application

• RC filters are use mainly for protein solutions due to the very low binding of proteins to the membrane.
• Nylon membranes are generally used for most HPLC & Dissolution testing because they are durable, compatible with most aqueous solvents.
• PTFE is the best for use with organic solvents
• PVDF are perfect for protein based samples with high non-specific binding.

Cronus filters are made using inert, extractable free virgin polypropylene housings with luer lock and luer slip fittings. Each filter is sealed using an ultrasonic process to ensure that no adhesives can contaminate your samples — essential to maintain your sample integrity. At the same time the process creates a physically stronger filter to protect against potentially dangerous bursting.

Sterile syringe filters are available with the popular Polyethersulphone (PES) and Cellulose Acetate (CA) membranes.
